산업통상자원부는 16일 청주오스코에서 열린 '2025 소부장 특화단지 성과공유회'에서 충북도의 이차전지 소부장 특화단지를 우수단지로 선정했다.

산업부는 전국 10개 소부장 특화단지를 운영하는 지방자치단체 가운데 우수단지 2곳을 선정했다. 평가 대상은 투자유치 실적, 인프라 구축 현황, 지정 이후 주요 성과 등이었다.

충북도는 2021년 2월 오창과학산업단지, 오창제2산업단지, 오창테크노폴리스를 이차전지 소부장 특화단지로 지정받았다. 지정 당시 민간투자 목표는 1조 1000억 원이었다. 실제 투자액은 5조 원에 달했다. LG에너지솔루션의 대규모 투자가 주도했다.

충북도는 배터리산업지원센터 건립, 전문인력 양성, 소부장 지원 펀드 조성 등 25개 사업에 4016억 원을 투입했다. 여기에 국비도 포함됐다.

특히 산업부 공모사업 5개를 통해 이차전지 테스트 인프라를 한 지역에 집적한 'BST-ZONE'(Battery Solution Testbed-ZONE)을 완성했다. 배터리 소재·부품 분석부터 배터리 셀 제조, 성능평가까지 전주기 지원 체계를 갖춘 것이다. 이 인프라 집적과 지원 체계가 우수단지 평가에서 높은 점수를 받았다.

충북도는 지속 가능한 산업 생태계 조성, 혁신 인재 양성, 맞춤형 기업지원 강화에 중점을 두고 추진할 방침이다.

김수인 충북도 과학인재국장은 "충북이 우수단지로 선정된 것은 의미 있는 평가"라며 "특화단지의 성공적 육성을 위해 핵심사업을 연차별로 체계적으로 추진해 충북을 글로벌 시장을 선도하는 이차전지 클러스터로 발전시키겠다"고 말했다.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy selected Chungbuk Province's secondary battery small and medium-sized parts and materials (SMPs) specialized complex as an excellent complex on the 16th at the '2025 SMPs Specialized Complex Performance Sharing Conference' held in Cheongju Osco.

The ministry selected two excellent complexes among eight regional autonomous bodies operating 10 SMPs specialized complexes nationwide. Evaluation criteria included investment attraction performance, infrastructure construction status, and major achievements since designation.

Chungbuk Province received designation of Ochang Science Industrial Complex, Ochang Second Industrial Complex, and Ochang Techno Polis as secondary battery SMPs specialized complexes in February 2021. Private investment target at the time of designation was 1.1 trillion won. Actual investment reached 5 trillion won. Large-scale investment led by LG Energy Solution was instrumental in this achievement.

Chungbuk Province invested 401.6 billion won across 25 projects, including government funds, for battery industry support center establishment, specialized workforce training, and SMPs support fund creation.

In particular, the province completed 'BST-ZONE' (Battery Solution Testbed-Zone), integrating secondary battery test infrastructure in one region through five industrial ministry competitive projects. The system provides full-cycle support from battery materials and parts analysis to battery cell manufacturing and performance evaluation. This infrastructure integration and support system received high marks in the excellent complex evaluation.

Chungbuk Province plans to focus on creating a sustainable industrial ecosystem, fostering innovative talent, and strengthening customized corporate support.

Kim Soo-in, director of Science and Talent Bureau at Chungbuk Province, said, "The selection of Chungbuk as an excellent complex is a meaningful evaluation," and added, "We will systematically promote core projects year by year for successful development of the specialized complex and develop Chungbuk into a secondary battery cluster leading the global market."
