결혼식 축의금 평균 금액이 처음으로 10만 원을 돌파했다.

카카오페이가 1년간 자사 사용자 송금 데이터를 분석해 발표한 '2025 머니리포트'에 따르면 결혼식 축의금 송금봉투를 활용한 평균 송금 금액이 올해 처음으로 10만 원을 넘어섰다. 2019년 5만 원 수준에서 5년여 만에 두 배 증가했다.

15일 평택에서 만난 직장인 김모(30) 씨는 "월급날마다 빠져나간 축의금 내역을 살펴보면 경조사비가 사실상 고정 지출"이라고 말했다.

평택 시민 정모(29) 씨는 "그냥 아는 사이면 5만 원, 어느 정도 친하면 7만 원, 자주 연락하는 친구나 동기는 10만 원 이상"이라며 "10만 원이 예의의 최소선처럼 굳어지고 있다"고 말했다. 정 씨는 "카카오톡으로 청첩장이 오고 그 안에 바로 송금 버튼까지 있다"며 "예전에는 애매한 사이면 그냥 안 갔는데 이제는 안 가도 5만~10만 원은 보내게 된다"고 덧붙였다.

전문가들은 축의금 비용 상승이 단순히 물가 때문만은 아니라고 진단한다. 예식장·식대 단가 인상 등 결혼 비용 자체가 올랐다. SNS에 공유되는 화려한 결혼식 사진 등으로 축의금이 일종의 사회적 신호 기능을 하게 됐다는 분석이다.

한국소비자원이 9월 발표한 '결혼서비스 가격 동향 조사 결과'에 따르면 8월 기준 수도권 결혼서비스 전체 비용은 2665만 원이다. 6월 2555만 원 대비 4.3% 상승했다. 1인당 식대 비용도 5만8000원에서 6만 원으로 올랐다.

The average wedding gift money has exceeded 100,000 won for the first time.

According to the '2025 Money Report' released by Kakao Pay based on analysis of its user remittance data over one year, the average remittance amount using wedding gift money envelopes exceeded 100,000 won for the first time this year. This doubled from the 50,000 won level in 2019 over five years.

Office worker Mr. Kim (30), interviewed in Pyeongtaek on the 15th, said, "Looking at the gift money that goes out every payday, congratulatory expenses are practically fixed expenditures."

Pyeongtaek resident Mr. Jeong (29) said, "For casual acquaintances it's 50,000 won, for somewhat close friends it's 70,000 won, and for friends or colleagues you contact frequently it's 100,000 won or more." He added, "100,000 won is becoming solidified as the minimum standard of courtesy." Mr. Jeong also said, "Wedding invitations come through KakaoTalk with a remittance button right inside. In the past, I just wouldn't go if the relationship was ambiguous, but now I send 50,000 to 100,000 won even if I don't attend."

Experts diagnose that the rise in gift money costs is not simply due to inflation alone. Wedding costs themselves have risen, including venue and meal price increases. Analysis suggests that gift money has come to function as a kind of social signal due to glamorous wedding photos shared on social media.

According to the 'Wedding Service Price Trend Survey Results' released by the Korea Consumer Agency in September, the total cost of wedding services in the Seoul metropolitan area was 26.65 million won as of August. This increased 4.3% compared to 25.55 million won in June. Per-person meal costs also rose from 58,000 won to 60,000 won.
