충남교육청이 12월 15일 전국 최초의 통합 건강교육 시설인 '충청남도교육청학생건강교육센터'를 공식 출범했다.
센터 위치는 청양군 장평면이며, 사업비 167억 8900만 원을 투입해 2025년 8월 개관했다. 부지는 2020년 학령인구 감소로 폐교된 장평중학교다.
시설 규모는 지하 1층, 지상 3층이다. 인공지능(AI)과 교육 정보 기술을 활용한 47개 체험 프로그램을 운영한다. 학생들이 신체·정서적 성장을 도모할 수 있도록 설계됐다.

체육·보건·영양교육을 유기적으로 통합하며, 지역사회에 복합문화공간을 제공한다. 충남교육청은 폐교 부지를 새로운 지역 중심 시설로 재생했다는 점에서 지역 공동화 방지 효과가 있다고 평가했다.
김지철 교육감은 "학생건강교육센터가 학생들의 건강관리 역량을 기르는 공간이 되길 기대한다"고 말했다.
향후 학교 현장 지원과 지역사회 연계 프로그램을 강화할 계획이다.

The Chungnam Office of Education officially launched 'Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education Student Health Education Center' on December 15, the nation's first integrated health education facility.
The center location is Jangpyeong-myeon, Cheongyang-gun. The project invested 16.789 billion won and opened in August 2025. The site was Jangpyeong Middle School, which closed in 2020 due to declining school-age population.
The facility spans one basement level and three above-ground floors. It operates 47 experience programs utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and educational information technology. The design enables students to achieve physical and emotional growth.
It integrates physical education, health, and nutrition education organically while providing a multipurpose cultural space for the community. The Chungnam Office of Education evaluated the regeneration of the closed school site as a new community-centered facility with effects in preventing regional depopulation.
Superintendent Kim Ji-cheol stated, "I hope the Student Health Education Center becomes a space that develops students' health management capabilities."
Future plans include strengthening school-site support and regional community-linked programs.
