옥천군이 묘목산업 미래 발전전략을 제시했다.

군은 이원면행정복지센터에서 「묘목산업 고도화사업 타당성 조사 및 기본구상 용역」 주민설명회를 개최했다. 설명회는 이장회의와 병행해 진행됐으며 이장 및 관계자 40명이 참석했다.

옥천 묘목산업은 90년간 생산 기술과 유통 경험을 축적했다. 2005년 전국 최초 묘목산업특구로 지정된 이후 국내 최대 규모 생산·유통 중심지로 자리잡았다.

농가 고령화, 인건비 상승, 농가 수 감소로 산업 경쟁력이 약화되는 상황이다. 군은 이에 대응하기 위해 중장기 발전전략 수립과 선도사업 발굴을 위한 용역을 수행했다.

용역을 통해 제시된 기본구상은 다음과 같다. 총 사업비 약 900억원으로 2026년부터 2035년까지 3단계로 추진된다. 생산기반 확보, 유통혁신, 문화·관광 접목을 통한 고부가가치 산업화를 목표로 한다.

군 관계자는 "이번 설명회는 옥천 묘목산업의 미래 방향을 공유하고 함께 논의하는 중요한 자리였다"며 "옥천 묘목산업이 전국을 넘어 세계로 도약할 수 있는 기반을 마련하겠다"고 말했다.

Okcheon County presented a future development strategy for the seedling industry.

The county held a public briefing on the "Seedling Industry Advancement Project Feasibility Study and Basic Conceptual Planning" at the Iwon-myeon Administrative Welfare Center. The briefing was held in conjunction with the Chiefs of Villages meeting, with 40 participants including village chiefs and officials.

The Okcheon seedling industry accumulated production technology and distribution experience over 90 years. Following its designation as the nation's first seedling industry special zone in 2005, it became the country's largest production and distribution hub.

The industry faces headwinds from aging farmers, rising labor costs, and declining farm numbers. The county conducted a project to develop mid-to-long-term growth strategies and identify key initiatives.

The basic concept unveiled through the project is as follows. The plan involves a total investment of approximately 900 billion won, implemented in three phases from 2026 to 2035. Goals include securing production infrastructure, innovating distribution, and creating high-value-added industries through cultural and tourism integration.

A county official stated, "This briefing was an important venue to share and discuss the future direction of Okcheon's seedling industry," adding "We will establish a foundation for the seedling industry to expand beyond the nation and leap into global markets."
