◆ 주꾸미 산란장·서식지 5년간 조성

충남 태안군이 해양수산부 주관 공모사업 2건에 잇따라 선정됐다. 태안군은 해수부가 11월 28일 발표한 '주꾸미 산란·서식장 조성 사업'과 '바다숲 조성 사업' 공모에 대상지로 지정되며 총사업비 66억 원을 확보했다. 주꾸미 산란·서식장 조성 사업은 2026년부터 2030년까지 5년간 진행된다. 태안군은 국비 15억 원을 포함해 총 30억 원을 투입한다. 근흥면·남면·안면도 해역 3곳에 주꾸미 산란시설물을 설치하고 해양폐기물을 수거하는 방식으로 추진한다. 산란시설 설치 후 잠수조사를 통한 주꾸미 입식률 모니터링을 진행하고, 주꾸미 모체 이식으로 입식률 향상을 도모할 계획이다.

◆ 바다숲 4년간 복원...2년 연속 선정

바다숲 조성 사업은 2026년부터 2029년까지 4년간 추진된다. 총사업비 36억 원으로 국비 28억 5천만 원이 포함된다. 대상 해역은 동격렬비도·병풍도·난도 3곳이다. 태안군은 자생해조류·서식해조류 모니터링을 실시한 후 자연석 투입과 해조류 포자 확산단지 조성으로 해양생태계를 복원할 예정이다. 태안군은 지난 4월에도 동격렬비도 인근 해역이 2025년 바다숲 조성 사업 대상지로 선정된 바 있다. 이번 선정으로 2년 연속 바다숲 조성 사업 대상지에 이름을 올렸다.

◆ 지역 수산업 발전...어업인 소득 증대 기대

태안군은 두 사업으로 지속가능한 수산자원 공급 기반을 마련하고 지역 수산업 발전을 도모할 계획이다. 격렬비열도 인근 해역은 수질 환경이 우수하나 해조류 자생이 부족해 갯녹음 가능성이 있는 것으로 평가된다. 해조류 군락 형성으로 생태적 가치를 회복하면 어선어업과 양식어업 등 다양한 어업 활동에 긍정적 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상된다. 태안군 관계자는 "이번 2개 공모 선정으로 어업인 소득증대 및 지역 수산업 발전이 기대된다"며 "사업을 차질 없이 추진해 수산자원의 보고로서 태안의 입지를 확고히 하겠다"고 밝혔다.

Taean County pursues sustainable marine resource supply foundations through these two projects while promoting regional fishery sector development. Waters near Gyeolleobi Islands show superior water quality but insufficient native seaweed growth, raising concerns about desertification. Seaweed colony formation is expected to restore ecological value, positively impacting diverse fishing operations including vessel fishing and aquaculture activities. A Taean County official stated, "Selection for these two public projects is anticipated to increase fishing community income and advance regional fishery development," adding, "We will execute projects without interruption to establish Taean's position as a repository of marine resources."
