연구팀은 친환경 논 확대와 무논 조성을 통한 먹이원 확보를 핵심 과제로 제시했다. 미꾸라지 공급과 어류 방사 등 먹이공급 체계 마련도 필요하다. 불법 낚시도구 수거, 전선 충돌 방지 장치 설치, 농약 사용 저감 등 위험요인 제거가 필수다. 예산군은 핵심 서식지 정비, 먹이터 확충, 위협요인 감축, 국제 협력 강화 등 종합 보전정책을 추진한다. 예산군 관계자는 "황새는 예산군 생태자산의 상징이다"라며 "군민과 함께 건강한 생태환경을 만들겠다"고 말했다.
