◆ 학생 손으로 직접 완성한 벽화 이야기

금당초등학교(교장 하홍금) 학생자치회 '다모임'이 홍성여자고등학교 미술동아리와 함께 학교 벽화 그리기 프로젝트를 11월 22일 완료했다. 이 활동은 학교자율특색과정 'F·L·Y 초롱人' 사업의 결실로, 전교생이 참여한 공동체 예술 활동이다. 폐기물 보관소를 정돈된 미술 공간으로 변모시킨 이 프로젝트는 초등학생과 고등학생 간 예술적 소통의 장이 되었다.

◆ 학생 의견 수렴해 주제 선정부터 시작

벽화 주제 결정 단계부터 학생들 주도권이 작동했다. 학생자치회 '다모임' 중심으로 전교생의 의견을 수렴하는 과정을 거쳤다. 학교의 미래 모습, 친구들에게 전하고 싶은 메시지, 홍주의 정신과 지역 문화 등을 주제로 논의했다. 이후 홍성여고 미술동아리 학생 5명과 디자인 회의를 진행했고 스케치와 색 배치를 협력했다.

◆ 고·저학년 수준별 참여로 완성

고학년 학생들은 벽면 정리, 밑작업, 채색 등 세부 공정을 담당했다. 저학년 학생들은 자신의 수준에 맞는 색칠과 포인트 표현에 참여했다. 모든 학생들의 한 획이 모여 하나의 작품으로 완성됐다. 학생들은 "내가 그린 그림이 학교의 일부가 됐다는 것이 뿌듯하다"고 밝혔다. 금당초는 완성된 벽화를 상시 전시하고 지역사회 연계 창의·인성 교육을 지속할 방침이다.

◆ Mural completed by student hands

Geum-dang Elementary School (Principal Ha Hong-geun) completed a mural painting project on November 22 in collaboration with Hongseong Girls' High School's art club, led by the school's student council "Damoim." The activity culminated in the school's autonomous special curriculum project "F·L·Y Cherolin." All students participated in this community art activity. The project transformed a waste storage facility into an organized art space while serving as a venue for artistic communication between elementary and high school students.

◆ Student input gathered to select theme

Students led the theme selection process from the beginning. The student council "Damoim" conducted a comprehensive opinion survey among all students. Discussion topics included the school's future vision, messages to share with friends, and regional culture reflecting the spirit of Hongju. Subsequently, five art club members from Hongseong Girls' High School participated in design discussions, collaborating on sketches and color composition.

◆ Completion through grade-level participation

Upper-grade students handled detailed processes including wall preparation, base work, and coloring. Lower-grade students participated in tasks suited to their level, including painting and adding points of emphasis. Every student's brushstroke combined to complete a single artwork. Students remarked, "It feels rewarding to see my drawing become part of the school." Geum-dang Elementary plans to display the completed mural permanently and continue collaborative creative and character education programs with the local community.
