김문근 단양군수 24일 제341회 단양군의회 제2차 정례회에서 시정연설을 통해 내년도 군정 운영 방향을 제시했다. 단양군 내년도 예산안 4,949억 원으로 편성했으며 역대 최대 규모다. 김 군수는 "민선 8기 3년 동안 추진한 혁신과 변화가 결실을 맺고 있다"며 "단양은 지속 가능한 발전의 상징으로 거듭나고 있다"고 말했다.

◆ 2025년 주요 성과 : 지질공원 지정부터 관광 인프라까지

단양군 올해 주요 성과로 충청권 최초 유네스코 세계지질공원 지정, 스마트관광앱 도입, 고수대교 경관분수 및 관상어 체험시설 조성을 추진했다. 전통시장 현대화·골목형 상점가 지정, 단양군보건의료원 지역응급의료기관 지정도 완료했다. 공공형 외국인 계절근로자 도입, 전국 최초 주민주도형 귀농·귀촌 시범사업, 생활불편처리반 운영 등도 추진했다. 김 군수는 "이 모든 성과는 군민의 응원과 670명 공직자의 헌신, 의회의 협력이 있었기에 가능했다"고 밝혔다.

◆ 내년도 최우선 과제 : 관광 도약과 지역경제 강화

내년도 최우선 과제로 관광 분야 도약을 설정했다.

김 군수는 "단양방문의 해와 제천∼영월 고속도로 추진에 맞춰 머물고 싶은 관광도시로 도약하겠다"며 시루섬 생태탐방교 개통, 단양순환길·생태탐방센터·다리안 유스호스텔 재생사업 등 주요 관광 인프라를 연내 완공한다고 예고했다.

지질공원 커뮤니티센터, 비치파크, 명승문화마을 등 체험형 관광시설 확충을 본격화하고, 단양역 복합관광단지·올산 골프·리조트·레일코스터 등 대규모 개발사업의 조기 착공으로 지역 성장 동력을 강화하기로 했다.

지역경제 분야에서 지역 상권 강화와 미래 산업 기반 마련에 집중하고, 농촌 스마트혁신센터 개관·농촌협약 추진으로 지속 가능한 농업·농촌 기반을 공고히 한다. 문화·체육 인프라 확대, 건강한 복지 실현, 친환경·지속가능 도시 조성, 균형발전과 안전 인프라 강화도 내년도 주요 목표다.

특히 유네스코 세계지질공원의 국제적 위상을 단양 관광의 새로운 성장축으로 삼아 지질 탐방·교육·명소 연계 프로그램 개발과 지질공원 브랜드화에 속도를 낸다. 김 군수는 "2026년은 민선 8기의 성과가 본격적으로 가시화되는 전환점이자, 민선 9기를 준비하는 중요한 해"라며 "군민과 함께 지속 가능한 단양을 완성하겠다"고 의지를 드러냈다.

◆ Record 2026 Budget Strengthens Foundation for Future Growth

Governor Kim Mun-keun of Danyang County presented the county's 2026 governance direction during his administrative address at the 341st Danyang County Council regular session on the 24th. Danyang County established its 2026 budget at 494.9 billion won, the largest ever. Governor Kim stated, "The innovations and changes we have pursued over the three years of the eighth term are bearing fruit," adding "Danyang is emerging as a symbol of sustainable development."

◆ 2025 Major Accomplishments: From Geopark Designation to Tourism Infrastructure

Danyang County achieved designation as the first UNESCO Global Geopark in the Chungcheong region this year and implemented the smart tourism app and water fountains with aquatic experience facilities at Gosudae Bridge. The county completed modernization of traditional markets and designated alleyway-type shopping areas, as well as designated Danyang County Health and Medical Center as a regional emergency medical institution. The county introduced public-sector foreign seasonal workers, launched Korea's first resident-led agricultural return and settlement pilot project, and operated a residential inconvenience resolution team. Governor Kim noted, "All these achievements were made possible by residents' support, the dedication of 670 public officials, and the council's full cooperation."

◆ 2026 Top Priority: Tourism Leap and Regional Economy Strengthening

Tourism sector advancement has been set as the top priority for next year. Governor Kim stated, "In line with the Danyang Visitation Year and the Jecheon-Yeongwol Expressway project, we will advance to become a tourism city where people want to stay," announcing completion of major tourism infrastructure within the year, including the Siruseom Eco-trail Bridge opening, Danyang Circular Trail, Eco-trail Center, and Darian Youth Hostel redevelopment. The county will accelerate expansion of experiential tourism facilities including the Geopark Community Center, Beach Park, and designated scenic cultural villages, and will strengthen regional growth momentum through early commencement of major development projects including Danyang Station Complex Tourism District, Olsan Golf Resort, and Rail Coaster. In the regional economy sector, the county will focus on strengthening local commerce and establishing future industry foundations, solidifying sustainable agriculture and rural bases through opening the Rural Smart Innovation Center and promoting rural agreements. Expansion of cultural and sports infrastructure, realization of healthy welfare, creation of eco-friendly and sustainable cities, and strengthened balanced development and safety infrastructure also serve as major goals for next year. In particular, the county will position UNESCO's Global Geopark international status as a new growth axis for Danyang tourism, accelerating development of geological exploration, education, and tourist attraction linkage programs and geopark branding. Governor Kim expressed determination, stating "2026 is a turning point where the achievements of the eighth term become fully visible and an important year for preparing for the ninth term," pledging "We will complete sustainable Danyang with residents."
