◆ 5개 건축사무소 당선...내년 최종 업체 선정
충청북도가 20일 충북아트센터 기획디자인 국제공모 당선작 5개를 발표했다.
당선작은 에이앤유디자인그룹건축사사무소·신성종합건축사사무소, 희림종합건축사사무소·선엔지니어링종합건축사사무소, 종합건축사사무소 건원·운생동건축사사무소·선진엔지니어링종합건축사사무소, 라온엔지니어링건축사사무소, 심플렉스건축사사무소·소솔건축사사무소다.
지난 8월부터 10월까지 진행한 이번 공모에는 15개국 33개 작품이 접수됐다. 충북도는 내년 행정안전부 지방재정 중앙투자심사를 거친 뒤 설계공모를 진행해 최종 업체 1곳을 선정한다.

◆청주 밀레니엄타운에 2031년 준공
충북아트센터는 총사업비 2542억원을 투입해 청주시 밀레니엄타운 내 1만9766㎡ 부지에 조성한다.
시설 규모는 클래식공연장 1400석, 중극장 680석 등이다. 2028년 2월 착공해 2031년 10월 준공을 목표로 한다.
충북도는 현재 투자규모 재검토, 운영수지 개선, 운영 인력 조정 등으로 경제성 확보 작업을 진행 중이다. 지난달 말 행정안전부 중앙투자심사에서 사업성 부족을 이유로 반려된 바 있다.
◆전국 3개 지역만 도립공연장 미보유
전국 17개 시·도 가운데 도립 공연문화거점시설이 없는 곳은 충북, 강원, 경북 3곳이다.
김영환 충청북도지사는 "이번 공모 성과는 지역 문화격차를 해소하고 도민 삶에 새로운 문화적 숨결을 더할 소중한 출발점"이라며 "재정 여건을 고려해 신중히 사업을 추진하겠다"고 밝혔다.
충북도는 내년 초 중앙투자심사 재신청을 위한 보완 작업을 마무리할 계획이다.

◆Five architectural firms selected...Final contractor to be chosen next year
Chungcheongbuk-do Province announced five winning entries for the Chungbuk Art Center planning and design international competition on the 20th.
The winning firms are A&U Design Group Architecture Office·Shinsung Architecture Office, Heerim Architecture Office·Sun Engineering Architecture Office, Gunwon Architecture Office·Unsangdong Architecture Office·Sunjin Engineering Architecture Office, Raon Engineering Architecture Office, and Simplex Architecture Office·Sosol Architecture Office.
The competition received 33 entries from 15 countries between August and October. Chungcheongbuk-do Province plans to conduct a design competition after passing the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's central local finance investment review next year to select one final contractor.
◆Completion scheduled for 2031 at Cheongju Millennium Town
Chungbuk Art Center will be built on a 19,766㎡ site in Millennium Town, Cheongju City, with a total project cost of 254.2 billion won.
The facility will include a classic concert hall with 1,400 seats and a mid-sized theater with 680 seats. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2028 and complete in October 2031.
Chungcheongbuk-do Province is currently working on securing economic feasibility through investment scale review, operating profit improvement, and staff adjustment. The project was rejected by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's central investment review last month due to insufficient business viability.
◆Only three regions nationwide lack provincial performing arts centers
Among the 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, only Chungcheongbuk-do, Gangwon, and Gyeongsangbuk-do lack provincial performing arts hub facilities.
Kim Young-hwan, Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, stated, "The results of this competition are a valuable starting point for resolving regional cultural gaps and adding new cultural vitality to residents' lives. We will proceed with the project carefully considering fiscal conditions."
Chungcheongbuk-do Province plans to complete supplementary work for resubmission to the central investment review early next year.
